Christmas cabins

Every December, the Starcroft fairies transform the cabins into magical festive hideaways…

While we adorn differently each year, we try to keep the decor in keeping with each of the cabin’s eras.

So in our medieval cabin, Matilda, you’ll find fresh foliage, healing herbs and Winter Solstice headdresses.

In our 1920s cabin, channeling understated bohemian glamour, you’ll spot a well-loved beaded evening purse, with tumbling pearls, and paper chains made from Bloomsbury print paper.

Meanwhile in our Victorian cabin, which is a celebration of women gardeners and botanists, there’s a real Christmas tree, orchid and festive pineapple plant. The difficult to grow ‘queen pine’ was a highly prized centrepiece of wealthy dinner tables during the 19th century.

Whether you want a quiet break away from Christmas preparations, or fancy creating your own betwixtmas reading or writing retreat, December really is a special time of year to stay.

And as a Christmassy bonus, you’ll spot a line of giant evergreen trees in the field next to the cabins. They’re left over from when Starcroft was a Christmas tree farm! Now all we need to complete the biscuit tin scene is a little snow…
